Predict the Unseen Tiles

Predict the Unseen Tiles — Diagram

WORJONG tiles come in 26 types, A–Z: 4 of each, 104 total.

From your tiles and everyone's discards,

you can tell which tiles are left and how many.

Aim for tiles with many left, rather than waiting for scarce tiles.

When someone achieves Agari, the tiles they used are shuffled with the top-left dora indicator,

to become the new dora indicator and the new remaining tiles.

Plan your strategy around who holds which tiles and when they might achieve Agari.

The Round Continues

EAST 1 just ended, but EAST 1 has started again.

This happens sometimes.

In WORJONG, the same round continues when the player with Seat Wind E achieves Agari.

The Round Continues — Diagram

You will see EAST 1, 1 Honba, then EAST 1, 2 Honba…

Honba increases each time the same round continues.

Honba is usually 0, so it is not displayed.

Calculate the Score

The game automatically calculates the points you receive when you achieve Agari,

but being able to calculate them yourself gives you an advantage.

Your score depends on Han, Seat Wind, and Honba.

Calculate the Score — Diagram

The most important is the number of Han.

1 Han is 500 points, 2 Han is 1,000, and 3 Han is 2,000: the score increases.

Above 5 Han and its 8,000 points,

6 Han is 12,000 points,

8 Han is 16,000 points,

11 Han is 24,000 points,

and 13 Han is 32,000 points.

Next is your Seat Wind.

Multiply your score by 1.5 only when your Seat Wind is E.

Finally, Honba.

Each Honba adds 300 points: 1 adds 300, 2 adds 600.

Calculate the Score — Diagram

For example, a 10 Han Agari with Seat Wind E at 3 Honba:

16,000 × 1.5 + 300 × 3

gives a score of 24,900 points.

For a Ron Agari, they receive 24,900 points from 1 player.

For a Tsumo Agari, the score is divided equally into 3,

and they receive 8,300 points from each player.

Overtime

WORJONG ends after NORTH 4,

but there is a rule called Overtime.

If NORTH 4 ends with every player below 30,000 points, play returns to EAST 1,

and the game continues until someone reaches 30,000 points or more.

Exceptional End Conditions

There are also 2 exceptions to the usual end conditions.

One is when someone's score becomes negative.

The other is when there are 0 tiles left.

In either case, the final scores determine the standings.
